' I thoroughly enjoyed a clever play with some excellent direction and acting by the theatre company.......this was an excellent play and a real treat of a show.'Anne-Marie Davies - Guildford Theatre News
Two women, Chris and Hannah, have been lent a run down seaside flat for a weekend break. Although good friends, they are greatly different. Hannah has MS but is happy with her lot - her glass is always half full. Chris, on the other hand, wishes she had more of everything and her glass is always half empty. Over the weekend Chris is visited by two spectral characters, Pest and Luggage to try to teach her the errros of her ways and make her see life for what it really is. Along with two unexpected guests, and old gentleman squatter and the American owner of the flat.
'Excellent lighting and soundtrack with original songs composed by Chris Snelling and Tom Mellor. The play was sensitively directed and the costumes firmly planted us in the 1970's. It Started With A Kiss was a superb show.'Surrey Advertiser
The play follows the lives of five mis-matched drama students as they embark on four years of drink, drugs and rock'n'roll whilst training to be drama teachers at a college in the seventies. A classic John Godber comedy with all the twists and turns we have come to expect from this outstanding playwright.
'The second act was by far the funniest as the five students attempted to put on a Brechtian style performance of Julius Caesar. Missed entrances, forgotten lines, a kidnapped dog and a slightly slow but determined prompt ensured lots of laughter. Ollie Watts portrayl of Rich was sensitive and imaginative. He used the stage well and effectively portrayed the tranisition of Rich from slightly nerdy Northerner to the cool and trendy college gigolo by the end of the play. Tom Mellor was 'Stan The Man' was cast well as the idiotic and slightly way out room mate. Jacqueline Myers gave a brilliant performnace as Babs, the 'flower-power drama teacher' whose 'thingies' and 'Rom-pom-poms' were a highlight. Melissa Hurry (Charlotte) was likable as Rich's long suffering girlfriend and college snob. Charlene Edwardes and Marie Duncan gave strong performances as friends Helen and Tina.'Surrey Advertiser
